After some mud-sloppin' After a hose and brushing By Bamber Lake, NJ

Well, the bike's got about 12,000 miles on it now. On 8/28/08 I put a bigger sprocket on the front and a smaller sprocket on the back, along with a new chain. Old ratio, 16:42, now 17:40. That's about an 11% change. Now the engine should tac 5,000 at 68MPH. Still sounds like too much, right? This is the furthest I can go with the primary sprocket. See the below picture.

That white stuff is grease from the new chain. The tips of the teeth are almost touching the rear-swingarm pivot. It is touching the rubber piece wrapped half-around it. When the bike is off the stand, the teeth just clear as the swing arm twists CW. I took it for a ride and I find myself not using 5th around here.. It's gonna cruise nice! It was getting about 52MPG before. We'll see if it changes any.

The new chain was 120 links long. I pulled the wheel back as far as I could, but it was still a bit loose at 112 links, so I had to cut it back to the original 110. I was thinking of getting a HUGH back sprocket for motard use. But really, it's beefy enough as it is.

I used a dremel to grind this down and it took a while, taking it slow to avoid the heat.

I just noticed I put the clip on backward.
I received my new Kenda K270 and put it on. I'm suprised to see the tread almost identicle! Kenda on the left, IRC on the right:

The bead on the Kenda seems to be formed to mold to the rim perfectly.

The bead on the IRC is the common type that leaves a lip of the rim showing.

Lastly, the Kenda K270 is 4 ply rated 6 and the IRC GP1 is 2 ply rated 4. Oh! The last tank rang up about 58MPG.
